a truer caucus pt. I

So I've been mulling around a couple ideas thanks to some of you's guy's suggestions and comments. Here's the dilemma. I'm having a hard time finding a good 100mb+ file hosting service. I refuse to pay for such a service so that's off the table. I've been using Sharebee which works great for sub 100mb files and sharebig which is not so great for the larger ones.

You'll notice a hot new voting tab which your voice can be heard. The options are to use Sharebee but split the files into part1, part2, etc. Continue using sharebig which is flaky. Or start using a Bit Torrent, which is super easy for me cause I don't have to upload anything, just get it ready and post a link to the torrent file. Now the pros and cons of this are as follows: Pros - potentialy more frequent posts, potentialy longer seed times (you guys will control that), more downloads, it's free. Cons - first few people to download will be slow (I'm firewalled)

so there it is, vote early vote often.

  2. Sharebe works for me. I don't like MegaUpload as it is so flaky, Sharebig has worked so far on the few occassions I've used it. I don't like torrents as they can be very slow and unreliable. Have you considered SoulSeek - it works very well, is very flexible and gives you some control over the downloaders to prevent leeching - i.e.you can check that they are also sharing files.

  3. I think sharebee is the better option, soulseek caused me a lot of trouble, I need to reinstall it every time I open it, deleting all my previous setting.
Furthermore it doesn't work with all the dsl connection, eg in Italy it doesn't work if you connect via Fastweb
third and most important if you upload a file it takes a well definited amount of time, but if you use soulseek your upload bandwidth will be forever more narrow then needed.
if you want to use a p2p program you must use e-mule, there any file has a hush and you can download from multiple sources (as with torrents)

    I favor Sharebee

  5. My vote is for BitTorrent but I know full well that won't work for everyone. I would suggest starting the torrents and add some education to your site about how to use them.

It's important to spread the idea of torrents so the community at large benefits from more people joining in.

  7. I vote for the split files, the torrents would be fine too, but they are much slower for me personally.

  8. Where I live bit-torrents are blocked, and I know this is the case in many public areas (ie Universitys)
so please don't go down that road.
Sharebee works just great, so if it 'aint broke don't fix it
    Best
