the results are in...

Well, looks like there is a landslide victory for Sharebee and split files. That is what I will continue to do from now on. One thing this affects is that anytime I need to split a file it will have to be in RAR format.

  1. RAR format? With what, Rapidshit? Give me a break. If you're using Sharebee maybe you could make one of the choices Megaupload which, as bad as it is, will still run massive ZIPs. If I knew you'd be using RAR I'd have voted for big long-assed downloads.

  2. hmmm.... Funny how different folks prefer different things. :) I like rapidshare, myself. And rar's are fine with me but I use a shareware or freeware program that handles them nicely.

What I wanted to comment on was how much I appreciate the high bit rate tracks. If it was ripped at 320 kbs and uploaded at that, it is very nice in the quality department. Of course, a lot of really good stuff sounds very good at lower rates, so thank you for all you do and all the wonderful music you share from whatever source.

  3. What shareware or freeware program are you using that handles .rar downloads? You have any links or URLs?

  4. I refuse to pay for such a service so that's off the table.

I feel the same way about Rapidshare and any "try it and buy it" RAR program that wants credit card #s up front. Try not buying it then.

  5. Rapidshit you can get around, without buying it. How about .rar?

  6. I use winrar. Aside from the "this is a trial version" warning that comes up everytime, it works fine. Perhaps I will look into getting something that will split zip files. I prefer zip files myself. I do not however like rapidshare.

and I got winrar from www.download.com

  7. Does .rar leave us Mac folks out in the cold?

  8. TS, don't misunderstand me on Rapidshare. I detest it, and that's why I have no moral qualms about not subscribing.

Winrar for "semi-free," eh? I like that one...

  9. I have a mac. I use UnRarX. It's free and it works great for opening rars. Can't make 'em, though. That's why I zip things.

  10. Is UnRarX strictly for Mac or is there a Windows version (aside from WinRAR)?
