Justin Townes Earle - Madison, WI (March 29, 2008)

Justin Townes Earle's latest album "The Good Life" has really impressed me. Equal parts troubador and honky tonk (and by honky tonk I mean late 50's era country music), but not on the same songs. He really is a natural at both styles too, one of my favorite albums of 08 so far. This bootleg here is a good representation of that album, just a rollicking good time had by all and he even apes his dad's "devil's right hand" intro for Lone Pine Hill (one of my faves off The Good Life).

The V-Roys - Live In Austin 1998

Been diggin' on this boot for the last few days. As most of you know I'm a big fan of these guys right here, and this is an audio capture of them at the top of their game. If there are any Scott Miller fans out there that don't know, this was his band prior to going solo. They were the first band on Steve Earle's label E-Squared (whatever happened to that label?). This is good sound, good show. They play just about every song off both their albums, a Replacements cover, a V-Roys version of Scott's "I Ain't Coming Home Tonight" and one song (Can't Shake Knoxville) that has still yet to make an official album.

Jerry Jeff Walker & Joe Ely - Live at Antone's 1983

Here's some honky tonk for ya. You can almost smell the beer while listening to this one. This thing is cool. Mostly a Jerry Jeff affair but what Joe lacks in quantity, he more than makes up for with quality. The last few tracks feature a few familiar names coming up on stage singing as well.

Now this is a killer bootleg. An almost New Years Eve show from 2006 with his band and damn are they in high gear. The sound on this one is excellent, and the performance is damned good too. This one is a must for all Chris Knight fans.

And yes, I totaly aped CCR for the album cover :P

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Danny By The River/Winterlong (2-25-1970)

Alright, so sorry about that last post :) I had been sitting on that a long time and just couldn't help myself. Hopefully this will make up for it. This is one of my personal favorite Neil Young boots. Now I have it as "Danny By The River", but the info I found on it has it listed as "Winterlong", so I just grabbed the artwork from that. This one reminds me of the best parts of Massey Hall & Live at the Fillmore. Like most Neil Young boots the first disc is acoustic and the second electric. Features blistering versions of Down By The River and Cinnamon Girl.

Chris Knight & Maureen McCormick - Chris Knight & Maureen McCormick (Rare Out of Print 1973 album)

Here's that ultra rare early Chris Knight album I promised ya. All the way back to 1973, Chris was barely 13 and just honing his songwriting skills. Sadly for this album Maureen McCormick hogs all the spotlight, but you can definitely see the promise of things to come. Nice to see he still wears the same shirt and hairstyle too.
