I said it in the last post, and I'll say it again....Hayes Carll is the best young singer songwriter in Texas. Hell, he may even be the best singer songwriter since Steve Earle......he's that good.
This is a 2 Disc live set that I culled from archive.org. The first disc and part of the second are from a Feb. 3rd, 2007 show at The Continental Club in Austin TX. This is his first ever headlining show there and he makes sure it's a good one. Highlights include, well all of it....it's a good show. Some of my favorites though are the new one "Drunken Poet's Dream", Naked Checker's", "Sit In With The Band", Tom Wait's "I Don't Wanna Grow Up", "Little Rock", "Highway 87" (is a dangerous place to be, when you pissed off all the locals and your backs agains the sea :P ), his version of "I've Been Everywhere" (houston, houston, houston, houston....), "Wish I Hadn't Stayed So Long" which segues into the rousing "Down the Road Tonight", "Rivertown", the prison license plate maker's lament "Live Free or Die", and he finishes the set out with Dylan's "When I Paint My Masterpiece".
The Rest of Disc 2 is culled from some other good shows in Texas. There is some good stuff here too, like the new one "Magnolia Wind", Eliza Gilkyson's "Midnight Runner", "Long Way Home", Bar Room Lament" and "Leave Here Standing" which turns into another rousing version of "Down The Road Tonight" to finish off the disc.
Don't miss this one folks, it is a great introduction to Hayes Carll.....who I can't say enough good things about.

Hayes Carll - Live In Texas
Here's another Todd Snider boot for your hearin' ears. This one was recorded this past January 26th at Headliners in Louisville Kentucky. The sound quality is decent, but it's worth it to get a recording of one of his recent shows. In my opinion Todd is at the top of his game right now....his last couple albums have been the best of his career. Featured on this set are some of my favorite Todd cuts, like "Ballad of the Kingsmen", "The Devil You Know", "Can't Complain", the George W. diatribe "Tale of Two Frat Brothers", "Statistician's Blues" (which has my favorite Todd lyric in it), the toungue in cheek "Conservative, Christian, White Wing....", "If Tomorrow Never Comes", and one of my favorites "Just Like Old Times".
I don't have much info on this, just that it was recorded sometime between Faithless Street & Stranger's Almanac and never released. I read somewhere that Ryan Adams wanted it released when Faithless Street was re-released but that never happened for whatever reason. I could not find any artwork online so I just whipped something up real quick.
This is a nice little acoustic set from Whiskeytown's acoustic tour supporting "Stranger's Almanac". That's about all the information I have on this, but it's a good set of tunes. The highlight of this disc is the Mountain Stage songs at the end....perfect sound quality, and great, great performances. Also worth Mention is an excellent cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams".
This is a nice little Todd Snider boot from a 2001 show at The Handlebar in Greenville, SC. He runs through alot of his old standards here, and tells some good storys too. He also plays a John Prine song (Illegal Smile) and a couple of Neil Young songs to finish it off. Sound Quality is not the greatest, but just turn it up......it's just really low volume. I forgot to include the artwork with the file, so you can either save the pictures above, or download the artwork by itself....sorry.
