Here's a super oldie but a goodie. This is Ray Wylie Hubbard's first album from 1975. Very hard to find, and very out of print. Notice the early version of Portales on here. This is pretty different from his newer sleazy greasy beautiful blues type stuff, but not THAT much different...you can still tell it Ray Wylie. Fans of Jerry Jeff Walker and Guy Clark will definitely want to check this one out
West Texas Country Western Dance Band
Portales
$60 Ford
Bordertown Girl
Lovin' of the Game
Compromise
Blackeyed Peas
Jazzbo Dancer
He's the One (Who Made Me #2)
Belly of Texas
Ray Wylie Hubbard and The Cowboy Twinkies

Thank you for this! I've been looking for it for awhile. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteHi - Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteBut... any tips on how to load the .wma files into iTunes.
Cheers
Oh, this is so cool. First you repost that live solo show from the Bar-B-Que, now this. I had this years ago and let it go unwittingly in the big purge. One of my buddies has the vinyl still, but could I get him to transfer it? NOOOOO! Then he has an aortic rupture and is out of commission for 6 months now. I am so stoked to see this. I have been CRAVING '(Running 'Cross) The Belly of Texas' for about fifteen years now (it's been longer since I heard it). I'm still gonna get him to let me borrow this and rip it from vinyl, but in the meantime, this'll REALLY do! Thanks! Duncan
ReplyDeleteOh, God! I'd totally forgotten about "Hes's The One Who Made Me Number Two" and "West Texas Dance Band" also. Whoopee.
ReplyDeleteYou think I may be a little excited? you don't know the half of it. I'm a musicophiliac according to Oliver Sachs book, Musicophilia. I don't doubt it for a moment.
WOW! A Ray Wylie head from way back!!! I think I've finally met someone who loves the Wylie one more than ME! :P
ReplyDeleteI've got some more Live Ray Wylie I can post, so look for it Duncan.
BTW, you ever catch his radio show?
about the WMA's....sorry about that, I didn't even check what format they were in, and just assumed they were MP3. If I'm not mistaken I-Tunes should automatically convert them...if they don't you can convert them using a variety of programs. The one I use is called EZ CD Extractor
Update your i-tunes to the latest version and it will automatically convert.
ReplyDeleteGreat to get this - any chance of the "Off The Wall" album, which has the first (?) recorded version of "Up Against The Wall, Redneck"
ReplyDeleteMany thanks.
Help! The link doesn't work
ReplyDeleteDear Truer, like many hear I've been searching for and dying to get this in digital form (or analog for that matter). I NEVER ask anyone for reposts. I figure they've worked hard to put it up once, and it's got to be a pain in the a-- to go back and do it again. But this is so rare and desired, you could do a great service by reposting. If you can't, you can't and I understand. But if you can, that would be great!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great music you post here. This is one of my favorite blogs.
Hi Truer, The link will not work, can you please repost this CD..I have been searching for a long time for this.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
A re-up would be greatly appreciated. This one's impossible to find. Thanks. The blog is excellent.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite albums and I've been looking for it for a long time. The link is not working now. Is there another way to get these songs? I'd so love it! I enjoy your blog!
