Sir Douglas Quintet - Live From Austin TX 1981 (DVD Audio Rip)

Doug Sahm has worn many musical hats over the years. From his childhood as a country music prodigy who was offered a spot on the Grand Ole Opry (his mother declined), to the mid 60's first incarnation of the Sir Douglas Quintet (named such to cash in on the popularity of british invasion bands), to the psychedelia of Haight-Ashbury (where he lived in the late 60's), to country-rock with the reformed Sir Douglas Quintet in the late 60's & Early 70's, to none other than Bob Dylan playing on his first solo album in the early 70's, to Tex-Mex & Tejano in the 80's and early 90's with the Texas Tornados, to Alt-Country in the mid to late 90's when he sang with Uncle Tupelo on his song "Give Back The Key To My Heart" and cut a live album with The Gourds just before he died. Sahm has done alot in his career, and this set from Austin City Limits in 1981 is a good overview of most of that career. This is a DVD audio rip but the sound is great, as you would expect from an Austin City Limits show. Some of my favorite tracks include: their cover of ? & the Mysterions "96 Tears", the cover of Charley Pride's "(Is Anybody Going To) San Antone" which turns into the rocking "Texas Tornado" sometime in the middle, the cover of The 13th Floor Elevator's "You're Gonna Miss Me", my favorite Sahm song ever "At The Crossroads", and the closer....a rockin' version of "She's About A Mover" to finish it off.

  1. If you make an WMV or AVI file you can post the whole concert.

It would take three or four parts at the most for the download.

Audio rip is good but video would be better

  2. I'm not doing video, this is all stuff I have on my computer and I don't plan on ripping my DVD's.

  3. Another great share! And thanks to Sharebee, I got it with no problems. Now if Rapidmirror ever gets off the ground, our problems are over for good! Forget Nahsville, country music is alive and well at A Truer Sound. Thanks again, dude, you ROCK!

  4. Love that Sharebee! Stings these motherfuckers good! Make 'em chase you all over the Internet every day to stop you from taking their stuff. Ha ha ha.
And Rapidmirror! We can't wait! Let's fuck those musicians good. Rape Emmylou Harris you say, and fuck up any bastard who says we shouldn't steal his music. Sharebee Rules!

I like sharebee cause it keeps me from having to reload links. I have no desire to rape Emmylou Harris.
