From The Archives: Todd Snider - Tales From Moondawg's Tavern

Todd's new album "The Excitement Plan" comes out today, and what better way to celebrate than reposting the mother of all Todd bootlegs....the mighty Tales From Moondawg's Tavern. I first posted this almost 2 years ago, and I still think it is probably the best thing to ever grace the pages of A Truer Sound.

This time I seperated the downloads per disc, instead of splitting a rar file. Should make for an easier download. If anyone has trouble, please....let me know, don't want the links on this one to go dead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now this is a fan-fucking-tastic bootleg. Probably the best Todd boot I have come across, if not the best of any artist. First I need to give proper credit to the guy who collected, compiled, sweated over, and mastered this (that's right, he actually did some mastering to get all the tracks sounding perfect).......Rich Willis.....everybody thank Rich (THANKS RICH!). There is a good write up from him in the accompanying text file where he tells his story about this excellent compilation. If you're not a Todd Snider fan, DOWNLOAD THIS! If you are a Todd fan.....DO NOT HESITATE! DOWNLOAD THIS! If you like good music, specifically story songs and in the vein of John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Loudon Wainwright III, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, etc...(that's some heavy hitting company right there)...DOWLOAD THIS! If you just like good stories told by a master DOWNLOAD THIS! Hell, if you just like good bootlegs download this.....it will not be regretted

(from the first re-post, 1-17-08)
I've said it before and I'll say it again....this is potentially the greatest bootleg of all time, and certainly the best thing to ever grace the pages of this site. Had a request for this so it's about time I re-upped it. This thing is phenomenal....if your not already a Todd Snider fan then just listen to this. If this doesn't capture your fancy, then i don't know what the hell you doing here.

  1. This was indeed a helluva effort. I grabbed it when it first offered to folks on Todd's list-serv. 5 full CDs of great story-telling and tunes. The amount of effort Rich put into it is remarkable. The one thing I'm pretty sure I did NOT have, however, is artwork. This is some good stuff here.

  2. Thanks for the post. I just got back from getting "The Excitement Plan" and will be listening this afternoon.
Todd's CD also includes a link to some Bonus Tunes. Nice idea!

  3. Hey, thanks a lot for posting this. I got the first two disks this morning and came back to get the rest. I'm not sure if the links are dead or if I'm just being stupid.

    Thanks again!

  6. I remember Songs from the Daily Planet and I thought this guy has his heart at the right place. I thought Step right up was also good but I kept playing the Daily Planet. Until I left Holland and went for some years on the road.

Music was no longer a prime concern. Life was a real concern. By the time I had settled myself in Malaysia and had bought me a computer, the time of blogging had appeared.

And by the time I had found this blog, I was excited. Finally someone who understood what good music was. And then Todd Snider with this set of cd's came along. I downloaded them all. The funny stories were legend as I read the critics on his shows but here I got the opportunity to hear them myself.

If there is one set of CD's doing right to Snider, it's this one. And I'm more then grateful it's share here. Thx

  8. This is great stuff. I hadn't really heard of Snider before and grabbed this on a whim (comparing him to Prine certainly helped). I really appreciate you posting this and will certainly be picking up more of his stuff.

    Thanks!
