So lots of comments, glad to see we are back up and running. Someone requested a repost of Bottle Rockets Live in Heilbronn Germany...well you are in luck my friend because that is a recent post over at Rock Is Dead. Get it here
Someone else requested Chris Knight, can get those back up within the week. Anybody picked up the new one yet? I'm still anxious to hear it and my local shop (of course) did not have it. The didn't have blue mountain either. Now friends to understand the ramifications and implications of this you have got to understand that this particular record store used to have a VAST alt-country section dating back to 1996 or 7 when the original store opened (I say original store only because it was better, but it got bought out and absorbed by a larger established local record shop a few years later). This new record store continued with a killer alt-country section that kept my thirst for sweet sweet music quenced but it gradualy began to taper. That once proud alt-country section that used to be at least 9 rows wide is now a mere 2 rows wide, and most of that is Drive-by Truckers and Cross Canadian Ragweed.
Now this store being located in a college town my only summation is that there was a large number of former employees who had great taste in music (I know this for fact because I knew a few of them personally)....however nowadays I almost hate to go in there with their bloated prices and poor selection. One good thing is now and then a great vinyl surprise will pop up (recently picked up "Ballad of Easy Rider" for a couple bucks), but all I'm left with are fond memories that get less fond the more I frequent this store (which nowadays is fairly infrequent)
anyways I have rambled. Just wanted to say thanks for all the comments and even though I may not respond to everyone I do read every one.
I do have more out of print Backsliders coming, their second album and a repost of their live EP. And yes I have noticed there are a couple other bands calling themselves the backsliders which makes things pretty confusing when you try to search for info. No I don't have the Vol. 2 of the Possom set, don't even know if there is one....I will also try to see if I can track down the missing track.
oh, and I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE I missed out on batch 3 of the Appalachian Refugee demos....dammit man! I read the post at 11:45....clicked over to the site, and SON OF A BITCH! already sold out. Thanks for the heads up though Vaughn.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say thank you for all the good music your blog gave to me .
If my English is right you are looking for the new Chris Knight.
Well I found a link on http://willy99-wildsafari.blogspot.com
/
I think it's his new CD.
So once again many yhanks for the music.
The new Chris Knight record release was pushed back from 8/19 to 9/2. I have heard a couple of songs from it on his website (chrisknight.net) that are really good.
ReplyDeleteI know what you are taling about as far as the record stores go. I used to be able to find cd's I wanted in stores but not anymore, I have to order everything online.
As the Itunes generation takes over there will probably be no more records stores at all which will be a shame. I used to love going to the record store and digging through the used rack to see what treasure I could find.
Same thing happened to me with batch 3. Ouch.
ReplyDeletehi,
ReplyDeletegreat to see you back on! I have been going through the archives during your break and have found some great music, so thank you for sharing it! I did have a request . . .any chance of re upping thte Jason Isbell show in Philadelphia from '07?
Either way, thanks!
I too want to thank you for your work. Thank you for introducing me to Americana at it's best...Todd Snider's new album 'Peace Queer' seems to have been pushed back for release, I can't wait ...Thank you supporting the songwriters and groups.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way that you could re-up the Todd Snider Colorado Demos?
ReplyDeleteIs there anyway you could re-up the Ray Wylie Hubbard Hideaway BBQ and Live At The Everyday Inn? Could you re-up the Live At Little Brothers Columbus Ohio show?
ReplyDeleteHi, good to see you back in business - I'm a big fan of your samplers, especially SCOTS and the Sadies. Good work! Any chance of re-upping the Sadies at Brighton in 04?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks
Jimbo
Hey, this looks like a fantastic blog. I'll be spending the weekend browsing for lost country classics.
ReplyDeleteDo you happen to have any of Murry Hammond's out of print solo albums? I think they're called "It's a Twelve String World" and "the Watering Wheel".
Sleepy Heroes' "Under the Radio Sun" would also be great.
I know it's not likely you've got these rarest-of-the-rare albums, but then I reckon you're the man to ask.
Hello! Great site. I would love to add some Todd Snider & Bottle Rockets for you. In return is there any way to get the Colorado Demos from Todd Snider. Drop me a line at quasichef@gmail.com I have lots to offer.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened? You were back and now you are gone again.
ReplyDeleteDon't toy with my emotions like this.
Just kidding.
hold tight guys, I'm just a slacker who has periodic bursts of accomplishments :D
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, I'm trying to re-up all the requests right now, then hopefully on to some new stuff.
also, sorry I don't have any solo Murray Hammond unfortunately.
and Craig, I may take you up on the Todd Snider offer, do you have Beachland Ballroom Aug 1st 2008?
I have 8/2, 8/4, 8/16. I may be able to get you a copy.....let me ask around. For now here is a link to 8/4. http://www.mediafire.com/?ygdlqtg2dbd
ReplyDeleteI can upload any of the others if you like.
