I'm almost speechless here, we have recieved a high profile visitor to our humble little site on the interweb. None other than Mother Hubbard, that's right, Ray Wylie Hubbard's wife...known colloquially as Mother Hubbard. She threw down her polecat, kicked the banjo back under the bed, turned off Reservoir Dogs and made a nice little visit to this here blog.....at least that's how I'm gonna imagine it :)
Here is the comment she left for us with the Ray Wylie Hubbard Sampler post:

Thanks for the kind words...I will pass them on to the Wylie Llama. Just want to remind everyone if you like the stuff and want to order CD's please do so off the artists websites. We never see the money from the record label when you order off the other sites...amazon, etc. This way we can buy milk for the baby, guitars for the poet and for mom...pay the pool guy:)Love,PeaceMother Hubbard
Mother Hubbard, tell Ray Wylie I've been turnin' people left and right onto his music in VA and he has a small contingency of hardcore fans in these here mountains. Tell him can't wait for his new album to come out either.....has he thought about doing a DVD, would love to see something like that.
Thanks for pointing out that we should be ordering music off the artists websites. I wasn't aware that was the best way to do it. Lord knows in these days of wild west music distribution, I want as much of my money going to a deserving artist as possible.
I have went and changed all the links I had made to amazon to now point to the artist's direct store, and will do so with all future links. Thanks for the info, and thanks for leaving a comment....you really made my day.

I saw that and it was cool! I love RWH!
ReplyDeleteI just tried to go to his site, though, and it is online but not functioning. It is just a picture and a statement that it will be fixed later. What are we to do in the meantime? Is there an next best link? The label's site?
good question. I noticed it was down too. I hope there are redoing it cause he has a new album coming out.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to a new one, and will pick it up from his site. This little episode brings home how sites such are actually helping the artists they present. It's thanks to your site that I've actually come to hear Ray Wylie Hubbard's music, and am now keen to buy some.
ReplyDeleteBloggers like you are filling the [enormous] hole left by collapse of American radio into a ClearChannel corporate shill-fest.
So, thanks!
just wanted to second Anonymous' comment about the void that is the current music industry -- and the role that blogs like truersound are filling to expose real art and artists ... hopefully we'll see more and more direct artist site links and indie label e-commerce sites so the artists get thier due and we move further and further away from the crap that exists with the industry...
ReplyDeletekeep up the great work!
Neat. It's almost too bad your old foulmouthed troll friend isn't still around to read this.
ReplyDeleteyeh, that guy kind of went away when I started using sharebee. He was pretty pissed off by it and his last comment was a bunch of vauge threats about what's gonna happen when I reach some magic download number.
ReplyDeleteto the others: radio is almost obsolete nowadays, and will be fully obsolete unless a change happens. even local music stores have fallen victim to the "corporate" business model to the point where they don't even stock anything non-billboard anymore. I have better luck finding albums at Barnes & Noble than the poor excuse of what one of our local music shops has become.
I fear I have rambled....
