The Bird List. A bird's eye view of the combined top 20 lists of what we like to call a "loose confederation of like minded bloggers". This is the inaugural year. It's been a patchy one! ReplyDeleteI miss lots of my faves, but then there are also a lot unfamiliar to me. hopefully I can give those a listen soon! I'm still surprised that everyone likes Steve's Townes album so much, I think it's a total failure. Anyway, glad his son is way up higher than him ;)

ReplyDeleteNot so much to say except that I miss the Flatlanders excellent Hills and Valleys
This list smells of whatever lables could afford to give away the most freebies. About half of these albums are spotty at best and some are out-and-out disapointments (Wrinkle Neck Mules/Magnolia Electric Co./Steve Earle/Charlie Robison).
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorites were no where to be found: James Hand's, SHADOW ON THE GROUND, is the MOST Country sounding record I've heard this year and Paul Burch's STILL YOUR MAN does the term Americana better than anything on the above list.
And where is Son of Bill's ONE TOWN AWAY?
