From The Archives: Townes Van Zandt - The WHOLE Coffeehouse November 1973

Still clearing out requests. This one remains one of my favorite TVZ boots. The reason being is the sound quality is pretty damned good, but his vocals on this are some of his finest that have been recorded in my opinion. If you don't have this, you need it.

This is a great TVZ boot....of which there are many, but his voice really seems to shine on this one. If you have been wanting to get into Townes but have been intimidated by his vast catolouge or some such other reason, this is for you. This makes a very good intro to the genius known as Townes Van Zandt. Of course, you fans will probably want this too (if you don't already have it).

    I've already got this boot, and yes it is a good one. As I understand it, the exact date is in question. Pretty much everyone agrees its November 1973. From there the debate begins. I have it in my collection as 1973-11-09. I've seen others say he performed on the 10th. Who knows. Don't worry about the debate - just grab this show.

    I found your blog through the bird list of 09. I'm so glad I checked you out, this Townes posting is great. This is the way he needs to be heard. If haven't seen him with his bb gun and trailer park girlfriend in "Heartworn Highways" find a copy of this DVD.
