Jason Molina & company are hard at work getting their latest masterpiece ready for release sometime next year. The new album is tentatively titled "A Map of The Falling Stars" and is being produced by Steve Albini. I for one can not wait for this one to hit the shelves, and if you are like me, you probably want to hear some of those new songs....well you can either go see them live (this is the recommended way), or download this show. New songs sound like classic Molina, and old favorites sound better than ever. At the end he plays a song he says he wrote for Willie Nelson....which I have never heard of, so I looked it up.....and found nothing...hmmm. If anybody has any info on that would love to know about it.
Here's a short review of the show

I have been so obsessive about Jason Molina/Songs:Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co. since I first encountered him/them about 7 years ago. I know it must be the early-Neil Young freak in me that drives me toward that sound. I buy everything he puts out.
ReplyDeleteI know I've said this before but "Farewell Transmission" is THE song of this century so far. It haunts the Hell out of me and I'm still not completely sure what it's about. Thanks for this!
PS. Jason Molina is everything that Conor Oberst and Jeff Tweedy wish they were. Jason is an artist, they are posers. There...I said it, HA! Take that, whiny-faced boys!
ReplyDeleteThere's no such thing as enough Jason Molina. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree.... there's never enough Jason Molina... He's in many ways the new Neil Young (together with Will Oldham).
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to ya all and thx Truer for being back in Bizz:)
