Slaid Cleaves (and The Men of Steel) - Live at Little Brothers Columbus, OH 4-20-04

This is a great show here. I actually like this better than any of his studio work. Slaid is in his element here.....playing live. I wish he would just go ahead and put out an official live album. Listen to this and you will see why. If you like good songwriting with a country bend, this is for you (surprisingly, lots of yodeling on here too). Features 2 of my favorite songs "Lydia" and "One Good Year". There are a few hiccups in the recording during the 3rd song, but overall this is a fantastic boot.

  3. There's this folk/blues club in Somerville, MA (outside of Boston) called Johnny D's and Slaid was scheduled to play there one night. Now Johnny D's likes to leave it's TV on in the bar (which is quite visible from the stage) for the regulars to watch sports.
Slaid demanded that the owners turn the TVs off while he played. They refused so Slaid took the entire audience with him out of the club into a near-by parking lot and did his show there.
Needless to say Slaid is not welcome at Johnny D's anymore.
    Pretty funny/cool huh?
