A quick heads up - Magnolia Electric Co.

There are some great, great live Magnolia Electric Co. shows on their website here. One of you fine commenters turned me on to this fact, and recommends the Dec. 6th show. I'm just now diggin' through this myself, some fantastic stuff on there. If you don't know whether you would like MECo or not, here's a taster...

ahh hell, this is a 5 part set, so here's the rest. The songs are (in order):
What Comes After The Blues
Talk To Me Devil, Again
Memphis Moon
Down The Wrong Road Both Ways
Leave The City

Recorded June 16, 2007 in Lleida (where ever that is)

  1. I'm a huge MEC fan. I think that the song "Farewell Transmission" off of the last SONGS:OHIA (or the first Magnolia Electric Co. CD, I've always enjoyed the confusion over that) is a modern classic that poetically captures the giant beast of despair that hovered over America after 9/11.
Jason Molina is as close to the Neil Young of the early 70's as anyone working in music today.

  2. So stoked you took my comments to heart!

One of my favorite weekend past times is wading through all of those LIVE shows, trying to figure out which ones work best on my hi fi gear.

Some impeccably recorded shows there ... so glad you gave them the props they deserve.

Cheers! Cracking a brew for you now!

as far as the Neil Young comparison....yes, especially on "Trials & Errors" that's a killer album
