These are some great intimate recordings of one of my favorite bands, The Drive-By Truckers. The first disc is comprised of 2 great acoustic sets, the first is an in-store acoustic at Waterloo Records in Austin, Texas on August 22, 2003 where they run through some songs off Decoration Day. The other is at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta, Georgia on May 1, 2004 where the play some old familiars off Decoration Day and some then new songs off The Dirty South. To finish up the first disc we have a great performance of Jason singing Randy Newman's Louisiana 1927 at Manchester Academy in Manchester, England. This was recorded shortly after Hurricane Katrina and the band played this song in tribute.
The second disc starts off with an absolutely killer in-studio performance at KBCO 97.3FM in Boulder, Colorado from August 16, 2004 which is comprised of an interview and 2 songs from The Dirty South. Next up we have the real prize here, a set of tunes recorded at what sounds like a house party at Mike Cooley's house on December 29, 2003. This is a real laid back performance and you gotta love all the chatter, singin' along and bottles clangin'. That would have been one hell of a party to have been to, and thankfully someone had the foresight to record it.

Great. I don't need to see these guys now that I got your download.
ReplyDeleteI like them but not enough to pay for them. Thanks for saving me bucks.
Maybe this summer they will do some FREE SHOWS outdoors in parks. Paying for shit is reeeediculous
I'm pretty sure your being a smartass, but you NEED to see DBT live! Recordings do not do them justice (especially since this is mostly acoustic), they are an incredible live act.
ReplyDeleteAnd for future reference, DBT allow all their shows to be taped, traded and downloaded from Archive.org and other websites. That is where this collection of songs was compiled from.
Thanks for being an ass though....cheers
Hooray! DBT allows their shows to be taped traded and downloaded!
ReplyDeleteThe ones that don't? Tape trade and download 'em anyway. DBT speaks for everybody
No, I'm not being a smart ass. I don't have the talent for pulling stuff off of YOUTUBE and acting like it's a talent
that makes no sense
ReplyDeleteAnonymous ... you are incredible stupid. Now go get me my cheeseburger and fries, dumbass.
