This guy put out probably my favorite album of '08. I think he says it all in this vid, from "If you want to hear Steve Earle songs, go to a Steve Earle show" to "Townes Van Zandt is the greatest songwriter who ever lived....period....stop.......exclamation point"

Holy Cow, you're alive! I had just deleted you from my favorites but I thought I'd give you one last chance (you're back on the list).
ReplyDeleteYou should re-post your Truer Christmas Sampler from last year for folks that didn't get it. I've been enjoying it recently.
Welcome back, did you order the new Scott Miller CD from his website?
I'm always glad when I see a new post here!
ReplyDeleteQuestion:
I haven't listened to Townes before. Is there an album of his which would serve as a particularly good introduction, or do you have a live show or two that would do the same?
Live at the Old Quarter is Townes at his best and solo and acoustic. It is largly considered to be the best example of Townes in his prime and is um marrred by the grotwesque overproduction of his songs that marred his first handfull of albums.
ReplyDeleteThere aer also a number of 'bootleg' concerts floating around the web. I say 'bootleg' becaue as I undestand it they were recorded straight off the board with Towens' permission...
Damn.... I didn't spell check and that post had some bad typos as I was typing way to fast...
ReplyDeleteHopefully the moderator will fix it for me so I don't look like a goof...
