Christmas Giveaway: Band Of Heathens - One Foot In The Ether

So, it being the season of giving and all, thought I would give a little something back to the readers. I got four of the new Band Of Heathens discs from a friend of the band who asked me if I wanted them to do a giveaway...OF COURSE!

This is a pretty sweet little album (see my review here), went to number 1 on the americana charts I do believe.

This time all you have to do is click the link below and leave your name and email. I did it this way for those who don't like to put their email out on a public place on the internet.  Contest will run until 5pm the 14th of Dec. and the winners will be announced that night. Vote early vote often.

James McMurtry CD/DVD Giveaway

Want to win a copy of the new James McMurtry CD/DVD Live in Europe due out next Tuesday? Well just leave a comment on this post with your favorite James McMurtry lyric and some way to contact you (Email, Twitter, etc...) . Winner will be chosen randomly and announced next monday.

This is a great album although rather short, and lacking the fiery excitement of Live in Aught-Five. That's not to say it's not any good, more of a testament to how good Live in Aught-Five is. This one is worth picking up for the DVD alone, which as far as I know is the first time a James McMurtry DVD has been released. One of my favorite parts on the DVD is when Jon Dee Graham comes out and flips off the "biggest music critic in all of Amsterdam" right before kicking into a blazing version of Laredo. Watch a clip from the DVD here

Album is also available on LP with a CD & DVD insert for $18 which is a great deal.

Also worth mentioning is McMurtry will be in Blacksburg on the 18th....That means I WILL be going.

For what it's worth, here is one of my favorite McMurtry lyrics (that's not from the song Choctaw Bingo):
Some insurance man biker is yelling out for one more beer
but a part time pirate just can't get much respect around here
we got our problems too man
and we'll get to you in just a minute
sit your drunk ass down
and there's no one to talk to
when the lines go down

Kasey Anderson - Nowhere Nights LP & Shirt Giveaway

As promotion for his upcoming album Nowhere Nights, Kasey Anderson is giving away 3 LP/T-Shirt bundles and he asked a few of us bloggers to help him out. But Kasey doesn't want to just give them away, where is the fun in that, he wants you to earn them. So somewhere in this post, and in the other blog's posts (hint: Start at Red River Records) are a series of clues that will lead you to the prize.

If you are playing the game, well, then after me you need to head over to My Aimz Is True for the next clue.

But Wait! There's More! As a thank you to us bloggers for playing along, he has also given each of us exclusive demo tracks from the album to share. The one he gave me is called All Lit Up, and I love it. Really excited for this album because everything I've heard from it has been incredible. From the absolutely phenomenal I Was A Photograph to this demo track here, definitely an album to look out for! (and thanks to Kasey you now have a chance to win the album almost 6 months early!)

Check out The Kasey Anderson twinterview from last week while you're at it.
