Earlier today I was listening to the new Kristofferson album Closer To The Bone and it struck me how stylistically similar it is to Todd Snider's latest album The Excitement Plan. Couple that with some other recent listens that include the excellent collaborative albums of Carolyn Mark & NQ Arbuckle, and the Gretchen Peters & Tom Russell album One To The Heart, One To The Head (which are both fantastic albums BTW). That got me to thinking about how killer it would be if Kris Kristofferson and Todd Snider made a collaborative album together. Man I would love to hear that.What are some of your favorite collaborative albums, or ones you'd like to see happen?

I sat next to Todd Snider on a plane once and he told me about an amazing encounter in a hotel room with KK. they smoked and sang all night. Todd said he even got KK to cry during one song! so there was a collaboration, but noone heard it. Todd says KK is one of, if not, his favorite artist ever.

yeah there is no question that todd and kris are good friends and that todd is a huge fan of kris..he has told alot of stories about encounters with him and even put out a cover album of kris songs a few years back called Todd Sings Kris..Todd Sings kris was once posted on this blog..but they actually do have a song they did together...kris sang on good fortune a ts song that todd put out on a rarity album this summer...but yeh it would be awesome to see a full out album with songs of theirs..or even if they just did a concert or two together and traded songs...they're two of the best songwriters ever..
Both Todd and Kris' records were producced by Don Was, who has a whole ethic of stripping things down right now that I wish more producers would take notice of. I heard somewhere that they cut the Todd Snider record in three days.
