I've said it before and I'll say it again....this is potentially the greatest bootleg of all time, and certainly the best thing to ever grace the pages of this site. Had a request for this so it's about time I re-upped it. This thing is phenomenal....if your not already a Todd Snider fan then just listen to this. If this doesn't capture your fancy, then i don't know what the hell you doing here.

Pssst...TS...talk to your buddy over at http://infinitefool.blogspot.com/ maybe he can tell you how to split ZIPs instead of RAR. That obdan guy is right.
Well, if you think it's that good I better give it a try
Looking forward to seeing if you are right
Best.
OK, after two discs I'm hooked, how could this guy pass me by ???????
Fantastic post...Gotta hear more
Thank you so much
Wow! This looks great. I can't wait to hear it. Thanks!!!!
I don't actually split zips. I just divide the tracks into separate files and then zip each file. It's a bit more time consuming, but I've yet to find a good rar creating program for my iMac.
I also have a request that oughtta be right up your allley. A few years back Snider was on Austin City Limits. He put in an absolutely smoking (if far too brief) set, including a version of "Somebody's Comin'" that gave me goosebumps. If you ever come across even an audio rip, I'd me incredibly grateful (even more than I already am for this and all your other great posts).
I love this thing, I've listened to it many many times since I grabbed it from here many moons ago, thanks a ton. I love his way of making any story entertaining and funny, the long Play A Train Song story is one of my favorites, its got huge laughs and some sad stuff.
Thank you for your hard work and the great songs! here is some advice for anybody on the mac who may have encountered the problem i had when trying to batch-unrar the files (using unRarX in 10.4.11): unRarX would fail to decompress some files on the first two discs, and would return error messages every time.
It is easy to fix by renaming the first 2 rar files to the same name used by the other files, namely
Moondawg_sTavern.part1.rar and Moondawg_sTavern.part2.rar
Then put the 6 rar files in a single folder, and unrar them in one shot (no password needed): everything decompresses perfectly.
One word for infinitefool. There is a free app to create rar files on the mac (10.4 and above). In case you have not tried it yet, you can get it at
http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Compression-Tools/SimplyRAR.shtml
Thanks again to Truer Sound!
Now if I get this right the excellant Todd Snider gig would've flown in one Megaupload or Gigasize upload, and maybe two the way Infinite Fool describes. But the new and improved Truersound .rar method takes six uploads?
Smaller downloads, yeah, I get that - but six teenie weenie downloads? And you have to put them all toigether again at some point? No improvement there.
I did download a trial .rar program, and I like it - enough so I surfed around until I found a program that allows trial-limit bypasses.
But six teenie weenie downloads? Let's go back to Gigasize or Megaupload or whatever. Even divided into two Rapidshit ZIPs is better than that.
Awesome stuff.....been listening all morning.
Many thanks.
To get past the stuff I'm so negative about...the Snider stuff is fantastic, and I think it's great so many young artists and indies (and not-so-young, too) are either molding and shaping alt-rock, preserving while refining rockabilly and earlier country, or blending them all together. And that we're so fortunate to have a blog that has so much of it, and in my favorite version - live bootleg.
And that is worth the new TS format.
ok guys, thanks for all the comments. What I've done is added more links to the zip version. I can see where you guys are coming from cause I too do not like RARs or multiple downloads. Plus I really don't like multiple uploads. I've opened a gigasize acount which allows 300mb ups. This will work for most everything I post as it rarely goes over 300. This Todd Snider boot however is over 500mb (which is why it took 6 100mb RARs) so I still had to split it into 2 zips.
Please excuse the boilerplate nature of this note:
As a friend (and I am your friend), I want you to be among the first to know that I've decided to run for President of the U.S. of A. You can find all the details (and a nice musical bribe) here:
http://infinitefool.blogspot.com/2008/01/important-announcement.html
I hope I can look forward to your support over the next few months. In return please expect a night or two in the Lincoln Bedroom with the hollywood actor/actress of your choice (just pick a person or people and a date after the inauguration and I'll have the IRS do the rest).
There may also be cabinet positions available for the highest bidders, er strongest supporters.
Vote early, vote often!
Thanks for adding the zip files! Todd Snider always makes me smile.
Anybody here really adept with .rar files? Too many times, when I open/save something downloaded in parts, one track just doesn't open, whether I open the parts all together or one at a time. Right now I'm looking at the Drive By Truckers newest, "Brighter Than Creation's Dark," and I can't get #10 to open. I'm using WINrar.
Now do you get why I'm so negative on .rar?
BTW - you can find that DBT at http://rapidshare.com/files/78251961/DRIVEBYTRUCKERSBrighterThanCreationsDark2008.part1.rar and http://rapidshare.com/files/78253159/DRIVEBYTRUCKERSBrighterThanCreationsDark2008.part2.rar and the password is zinhof. I found thia at Wild Safari.
I just wanted to thank you for the samplers you've been posting. My wife is missing Austin, TX, now that we're here in cold, dark and damp Oxford, England (my hometown), so the music has helped cheer her up a bit until we visit again. She used to live about a 5-minute walk away from Zilker Park, the venue for the Austin City Limits festival. Many thanks.
My, my, Jon. You make England sound like such a great place to leave behind!
Thanks for posting this - it is fantastic! I've only heard a little bit of Todd Snider before, now I'm sold - great stories and great songs!
By the way, I appreciate the smaller (100mb) files, cause I've got limited bandwidth and I hate it when the connection fails 2/3 of the way through those huge files.
This is fantastic!!!
hey really thanks for this...bit i cant seem to get the 3rd one to download and it will not let me open the rest(i am new to this and live in the middle of nowhere so my dail up is slow but i did get all the rest of the downloads...please what iam i doing wrong..
I love Todd Snider. When he was knocking around Memphis he dated I girl I grew up with. If only I'd known about Moon Dawg's when he was here. I would have stopped by for a drink.
Can someone tell me how to download those recordings? I'm not doing something right.
man im just glad you posted this thanks a lot! You rock!
man this compilation is soooo good .ive had it for about a year now and everytime i see it i feel like downloading it again just in case you know ...if i losses this file and could never get it again i would be devistated and cry.
thank you mr truer sound this compilation has got me throught tought times
Am I too late? Zip files says the files have been deleted. I don't know how to use RAR files... :(
This will be my introduction to the world of Todd Snider! Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
MLP
